About GynecologicAL Surgery

Dr. Deanah Jibril is a renowned, board-certified OB/GYN in Plano, TX who performs gynecological surgeries for women with concerning issues in regard to their feminine health and quality of life. Some of the reasons women have gynecological surgery are because of:

  • Painful uterine fibroids
  • Endometriosis
  • Urogynecological issues (prolapse, incontinence, and more)
  • Unexplained infertility
  • Treatment-resistant endometriosis
  • The need for the removal of the uterus (with or without the removal of the ovaries or fallopian tubes)

In her experience, Dr. Jibril will make recommendations as to whether or not a traditional or laparoscopic surgery is appropriate for your treatment. We are accepting new patients who are referrals from other physicians, women who have treatment-resistant symptoms, or women who have a medical concern to discuss with an experienced, board-certified OB/GYN. Please call Willowbend Med Spa to schedule a private consultation with Dr. Jibril today.

Ideal Candidates

Dr. Jibril does accept physician-referred patients for gynecological surgery and treatment. Otherwise, you are probably already a patient here at Willowbend Med Spa and have been diagnosed with a condition that requires surgical intervention. In preparation for your surgery, Dr. Jibril will explain what she will do to your body and why. She will explain your surgical plan so that you understand what is happening every step of the way. If you have a question, please bring it up at your appointment.

You may not be a candidate for a minimally invasive hysterectomy if you:

  • Are severely obese
  • Have significant scar tissue within your uterus from previous surgeries or trauma to the uterine tissues
  • Have an enlarged uterus
  • Have severe abnormalities to the uterus, fallopian tubes, and/or ovaries
  • Are in poor health
  • Are in treatment for cancer or have precancerous cells present

Of course, there are exceptions to every case when it comes to the best technique to remove a uterus. However, Dr. Jibril will make recommendations that will give you the best health benefits with the least amount of risks to take with your health.

Procedure Techniques

All of Dr. Jibril's gynecological surgeries are performed off-site at an accredited medical facility under a general anesthetic and may take about 2 – 3 hours to complete.

  • Traditional or open gynecological surgery

A traditional or open gynecological surgery, such as a hysterectomy, would require a single large incision across the abdomen. Once the gynecological procedure has concluded, Dr. Jibril would close the incision site with stitches or sutures. This type of surgery requires the longest hospital stay, and recovery period (4 – 6 weeks), the largest scar, and an increased risk for infection and/or incisional hernias. If this type of surgery is required, there will be at least a 2 – 3 day stay in the hospital for your health and safety.

  • Vaginal gynecological surgery

If it is appropriate, gynecological surgery may be performed by Dr. Jibril going through the vaginal opening. No incision would be made on the abdomen at all.

  • Laparoscopic gynecological surgery

Dr. Jibril also offers laparoscopic gynecological surgeries that many patients can benefit from when needed. As a minimally invasive procedure, a small incision would be made near the belly button so that a laparoscope can be inserted into the uterus. There may be additional small incisions made in the abdomen so that medical instruments can be inserted to perform the surgery. There will be a camera mounted on the laparoscope to guide Dr. Jibril in the surgical process. The incisions will need minimal stitching to close the openings made. This minimally invasive procedure has smaller scars that heal faster than traditional surgery, which leads to less pain and fewer nights spent at the hospital (if any).
